MIO Ethos, Aims & Values

Our Ethos

At Madina Institute Oxford, our ethos is to nurture young hearts and minds upon the guidance of the Qur’an and Sunnah. We are dedicated to fostering excellence in knowledge, character, and service, so that every pupil grows into a confident, compassionate, and responsible member of the Ummah and wider society.

“The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)

Our Aims

Our aims are to create a generation of Muslims who embody the highest values of faith, integrity, and service. We aspire for our pupils to become lifelong learners, grounded in Islamic knowledge, resilient in character, and proactive in contributing positively to their communities and the world.

Through a holistic education rooted in Islam, we seek to inspire future leaders who uphold justice, compassion, and excellence in every aspect of life.

“You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah.”
(Qur’an, 3:110)

Our Core Values

🌟 Excellence (Iḥsān)

We strive for the highest standards in learning, character, and service, seeking Allah’s pleasure in all that we do.

“Indeed, Allah loves those who excel (muḥsinīn).”
(Qur’an, 2:195)

📖 Knowledge (‘Ilm)

We nurture a love of learning and encourage lifelong pursuit of knowledge, both Islamic and worldly, to benefit the Ummah and humanity.

“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”
(Sunan Ibn Mājah, 224)

💕 Compassion (Raḥmah)

We cultivate kindness, mercy, and care towards others, reflecting the character of the Prophet ﷺ.

“The Most Merciful shows mercy to those who are merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One above the heavens will have mercy upon you.”
(Sunan al-Tirmidhī, 1924)

🤝 Integrity (Amānah & Ṣidq)

We uphold honesty, trustworthiness, and responsibility in all aspects of life, building character rooted in faith.

“The signs of a hypocrite are three: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is entrusted, he betrays the trust.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī & Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim)

🌍 Service (Khidmah)

We encourage pupils to serve their families, communities, and society at large, embodying the principle of benefiting others.

“The most beloved of people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people.”
(al-Mu‘jam al-Awsaṭ, 6192)

🙏 Respect (Adab & Ḥurmah)

We promote respect for teachers, parents, peers, and all of creation, recognising the dignity and honour Allah has bestowed upon humanity.

“And We have certainly honoured the children of Adam…”
(Qur’an, 17:70)
