Introduction
Madina Institute Oxford (MIO) is an evening madrasah guided by the teachings of the Sunni Muslim faith. Our admissions policy reflects our commitment to providing a high-quality Islamic education within an inclusive, fair, and transparent framework.
The Madrasah welcomes applications from all Muslim families, with preference given to those who adhere to the principles of Ahlus-Sunnah wa’l-Jamā‘ah.
Commitment to Equal Opportunities
Madina Institute Oxford is fully committed to equal opportunities in education. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, nationality, colour, or ethnic origin. All applicants will be considered fairly and in accordance with the published admissions criteria.
As an Islamic institution, it is essential that the ethos, values, and teachings of Islam permeate every aspect of Madrasah life. Therefore, families are expected to support and respect the Islamic character of the Madrasah.
Admissions Criteria
-
Admission is open to all Muslim children, subject to available places.
-
Where applications exceed the number of available spaces, preference will be given to:
-
Children from families adhering to the Sunni Muslim faith (Ahlus-Sunnah wa’l-Jamā‘ah).
-
Siblings of current pupils.
-
Children living closest to the Madrasah.
-
The Senior Management Team may review these criteria annually or as needed.
Admission Numbers
The Madrasah will admit up to the number of pupils it can accommodate without affecting the quality of teaching and care. If applications exceed available spaces, the admissions criteria will be applied.
Waiting List
-
Applicants who are not immediately offered a place will be placed on a waiting list.
-
The waiting list will be ordered strictly according to the admissions criteria, not the date of application.
-
A child moving into the area later may receive a higher priority than a child already on the waiting list if they meet the criteria more closely.
-
When a place becomes available, it will be offered to the child at the top of the list.
Late Applications
-
Applications received after the closing date will normally be considered after those received on time.
-
Where there is a valid reason for late submission, and it is before the admissions list is finalised, the application may be considered equally with others.
-
Mid-term applications will be accepted, but fees for the full term will still apply.
Non-Routine Admissions
-
Parents seeking admission outside the usual intake period should arrange a meeting with the Principal.
-
If a space is available in the required year group, it will be offered.
-
If no space is available, the child will be placed on the waiting list.
Fraudulent Applications
-
Providing false or misleading information will result in the withdrawal of an offer or termination of an existing place.
-
Where a child is allowed to continue despite false information being provided, siblings will not receive priority under admissions criteria.
Refusal of a Place
-
The Madrasah reserves the right to refuse admission if applicants do not meet satisfactory requirements, including alignment with the ethos and expectations of the Institute.
-
Parents will be informed of the reason for refusal in writing.
Review of Policy
The Senior Leadership Team of Madina Institute Oxford reserves the right to review and amend this policy as necessary to ensure fairness, compliance, and alignment with the Madrasah’s ethos.
